Key Responsibilities

  • •Manages overall operations of designated area of authority. Interviews, hires, trains and directs personnel. Prepares and conducts performance assessments, coordinates discipline and oversees Employee development as required.
  • •Maintains and applies a current knowledge of GAAP and SAP accounting statutes and regulations related to federal income taxes applicable to all ERIE companies. Supervises internal and external reporting, and maintains and demonstrates strong knowledge of applicable principles and regulations and required deadlines.
  • •Responsible for the review, accuracy and approval of all data requested from or produced by the section to ensure accuracy and fulfillment of the needs of the requestor and compliance with applicable policies, principles and regulations. Recommends modifications to current policies and practices to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • •Leads and manages tax related projects, information requests, system upgrades and process efficiency initiatives. Delegates related tasks based on timing and available skill sets. Oversees progress through implementation and provides guidance where appropriate.
  • •Provides improvement and/or solution recommendations, gains team collaboration, develops business cases and works with internal resources and potential external vendors to implement chosen solutions.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree in accounting, or related field, required.
  • •CPA designation or Master’s degree required.
  • •Eight years’ experience with a Big 4 accounting firm and/or a major property/casualty or life insurance company including a current, in-depth knowledge of the federal income tax code, regulations, and rulings as they pertain to property and casualty and life insurance companies required.
  • •Current in-depth knowledge of SAP and GAAP rules and regulations including disclosure requirements required.
  • •Strong project management and leadership capabilities with ability to oversee tax projects and team collaboration.
