Job Summary

Lead a small team of automation engineers to advance automated testing capabilities across Symetra. You’ll design and maintain scalable test automation frameworks, environments, and CI/CD integrations covering API, UI, integration, regression, smoke, performance, and reliability testing. Work hands-on with minimal supervision, drive automation health and metrics, perform root-cause analysis for failures, and partner across engineering, product, DevOps, architecture, and QA to improve release confidence.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead and provide technical direction to a team of 2–3 automation engineers.
•Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation strategies, frameworks, and scripts across test types (API, UI, integration, functional, regression, smoke, performance, reliability).
•Standardize automation frameworks, test environments, tools, coding practices, and implementation patterns.
•Drive automation strategy, framework design, solution planning, and CI/CD integration and tooling decisions.
•Remain hands-on with framework development, test implementation, code reviews, debugging, and root-cause analysis; mentor engineers and report automation health, risks, gaps, and progress to leadership.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 128,700 - 214,600 annually

•8+ years of relevant test automation or quality engineering experience.
•Hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining automation solutions across multiple applications, products, or services.
•Proven experience leading automation engineers and providing technical mentoring and guidance.
•Strong experience designing and governing scalable automation frameworks, including coding standards, test strategy, framework architecture, and long-term maintainability.
•Advanced experience with modern automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or Pytest.
