Job Summary

Lead and mentor a team of ML engineers focused on the post-origination credit lifecycle. Set technical strategy for repayment, collections, recovery and loss mitigation projects, partner with product, analytics, risk, and design to scale advanced ML solutions, and drive a cohesive long-term ML strategy across Affirm’s Repayment & Recovery group in Europe (UK/Poland/Spain).

•Define and advocate technical solutions and operational processes to maximize impact and efficiency.
•Collaborate with product management, design, analytics, and risk to ensure technical sustainability and clear understanding of risks and trade-offs.
•Develop talent through feedback and mentorship and lead by example.
•Lead the engineering effort in Europe, partnering with UK/Poland/Spain teams to scale ML solutions across the credit lifecycle.

• Background in financial services, specifically credit/lending, with hands-on post-origination modeling experience (collections, repayment, recovery, loss mitigation, early-warning or behavioural risk).
• Proficiency in machine learning with experience in tree-based models, transformers, deep learning, and agentic ML.
• Strong engineering skills with hands-on technical leadership while working with code and architecture.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and understand both low-level language idioms and large-scale system architecture.
