Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform circuit and equipment/network restoration, identifying potential jeopardy conditions and addressing network issues and alarms.
  • •Manage and test T1–100Gb Ethernet & IP circuits, including activation of new network circuits and maintenance across long-haul, metro, and international optical networks.
  • •Coordinate with Federal government network operation centers (NOC) customers for demand and scheduled maintenance in line with customer protocols.
  • •Analyze network troubles using performance data, develop design optimization plans, and interface with fiber vendors and telecom providers on complex technical matters.
  • •Analyze, test, and repair Layer 2/3 network problems to ensure services meet customer SLAs for latency, packet loss, jitter, and throughput (including testing with standard protocols, Iperf, and Brix platforms).

Key Requirements

  • •Minimum 5+ years of experience with SONET-based long-haul and metro transport networks, next-generation DWDM, SDH (SNCP rings), DCCS cross-connects, Ethernet, VPLS, IP, and MPLS.
  • •Possess security clearance and/or ability to obtain security clearance.
  • •Strong ability to relate technical issues to management and government personnel and interface professionally with customers.
  • •Knowledge and hands-on experience with DWDM Layer 1, Metro Ethernet, and IP communications, including IPv4/IPv6 and routing protocols.
  • •Flexibility with work levels and shift accommodation, including managing multiple issues through prioritization under pressure.
