Key Responsibilities

  • •Collect and record feed conversion house data: weigh chickens, feed birds as needed, monitor controls/thermostats, and perform routine housekeeping.
  • •Check bird heart rate and blood oxygen using a pulse-oximeter and record data using pen/paper and/or tablet/computer.
  • •Euthanize and dissect birds in the dissection laboratory per accepted protocols, visually score defects, and measure/report weights/defects using a caliper and tablet/computer.
  • •Dispose of dead birds and dissect birds into incinerators and follow proper disposal and cleanup procedures.
  • •Repair, align, and construct cages/pens/equipment and perform additional duties such as collecting swab samples and maintaining cleaning supplies/foot baths (as assigned).

Key Requirements

  • •Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no employment gaps greater than 6 months in the past 36 months (18 months if laid off or providing child/elder care).
