Key Responsibilities

•Lead the delivery of large HV/EHV cable system projects from concept to completion, ensuring quality, safety, and innovation.
•Develop and oversee HV cable system designs, including routing, burial risk assessments, thermal, electromagnetic, and mechanical performance modelling.
•Provide expert input into cable system ratings, installation methodologies, jointing, cleating design, and system integration in challenging environments.
•Guide calculations for ampacity, short-circuit forces, EMC, induced voltages, and thermomechanical effects to meet standards (National Grid TPs, IEC, CIGRÉ).
•Manage coordination between civil, structural, OHL, substation, and marine engineering inputs to deliver cohesive designs and support procurement, construction, and commissioning.

Key Requirements

•Technical leader in HV/EHV cable system design with a track record of delivering large, complex projects from concept to completion.
•Experience in design, specification, and installation of cable systems in tunnel, urban, and constrained environments.
•Deep understanding of international and UK standards (National Grid TPs, IEC, CIGRÉ).
•Experience in regulated, quality-assured environments (preferably with National Grid, SSE, EirGrid, or equivalent TSOs/DSOs).
•Strong ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and engage with senior stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
