Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead the delivery of large HV/EHV cable system projects from concept to completion, ensuring quality, safety, and innovation.
  • •Develop and oversee HV cable system designs, including routing, burial risk assessments, thermal, electromagnetic, and mechanical performance modelling.
  • •Provide expert input into cable system ratings, installation methodologies, jointing, cleating design, and system integration in challenging environments.
  • •Guide calculations for ampacity, short-circuit forces, EMC, induced voltages, and thermomechanical effects to meet standards (National Grid TPs, IEC, CIGRÉ).
  • •Manage coordination between civil, structural, OHL, substation, and marine engineering inputs to deliver cohesive designs and support procurement, construction, and commissioning.

Key Requirements

  • •Technical leader in HV/EHV cable system design with a track record of delivering large, complex projects from concept to completion.
  • •Experience in design, specification, and installation of cable systems in tunnel, urban, and constrained environments.
  • •Deep understanding of international and UK standards (National Grid TPs, IEC, CIGRÉ).
  • •Experience in regulated, quality-assured environments (preferably with National Grid, SSE, EirGrid, or equivalent TSOs/DSOs).
  • •Strong ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and engage with senior stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
