Job Summary

Investigate complex credit hire claims from appointed opponents, carrying out technical, file-based investigations and managing a case load where claims can be up to £25,000. Work with strategic and tactical inquiry to support your insurer clients and help reduce overall spend. Use strong communication and telephone negotiation skills, follow established processes and strategy, and develop legal knowledge across pre-proceedings, litigation preparation, and costs.

Key Responsibilities

•Investigate complex credit hire claims and carry out complex, technical investigations on claims submitted by opponents.
•Manage and progress credit hire files using established work processes and strategy.
•Support tactical and strategic investigation efforts to help reduce overall spend for insurer clients.
•Recognise when sensitivity and tact are required and make decisions while staying calm under pressure.
•Develop legal knowledge across pre-proceedings credit hire, the file life cycle, common law and litigation principles, costs/protective offers, and preparing cases for litigation.

Key Requirements

•At least 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) are essential, with a degree preferable.
•Experience of handling credit hire files and exposure to credit hire cases for at least 12 months.
•Ability to use your own initiative and plan/prioritise workloads.
•Excellent listening and verbal communication skills, including good telephone negotiation skills.
•Good IT skills, including Word and Outlook, and experience of a Case Management System preferred.
