Key Responsibilities

  • •Drive the architecture and implementation of embedded firmware for devices critical to PI’s data collection.
  • •Lead embedded Linux system bring-up and integration for real-time sensor processing, including drivers, BSP development, kernel configuration, debugging, and performance tuning.
  • •Work with hardware and software teams to ensure new devices integrate seamlessly with existing and future data pipelines.
  • •Use hardware abstraction tools and lab equipment to diagnose and fix complex timing issues, race conditions, and hardware-software interface bugs.
  • •Analyze and reduce power consumption for battery-operated devices, including radio sleep states and sensor low-power modes.

Key Requirements

  • •BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • •Strong software engineering and infrastructure skills, including building data pipelines, evaluation frameworks, and tooling for rapid iteration.
  • •Hands-on comfort working with hardware and collaborating across hardware, software, and research teams.
  • •Hands-on experience with SPI, I2C, UART, USB, and debugging complex hardware-software interactions.
  • •Proficiency in C++ and experience architecting, implementing, and debugging concurrent/multithreaded firmware services.
