Job Summary

Lead Thumbtack’s Accounting organization by managing a team of 10 across the US and Philippines. Own multi-year strategy, close processes, and recurring/non-recurring accounting and accounts payable operations, strengthening controls for public-company readiness, SOX compliance, and audit preparedness. Partner across Finance, Procurement, Payroll, Legal, Tax, Product, and Engineering to operationalize scalable, compliant revenue models and automate accounting workflows using AI and tools like NetSuite.

Key Responsibilities

•Set and lead the multi-year strategy for Accounting, building a scalable operating model for growth and public-company readiness.
•Build and lead a high-performing team, developing managers, strengthening leadership bench, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
•Own the accuracy and timeliness of close processes and recurring/non-recurring accounting and accounts payable processes, improving quality and performance metrics.
•Drive public-company readiness by strengthening internal controls, SOX compliance, and audit preparedness.
•Identify efficiency opportunities by streamlining or automating accounting processes and workflows, particularly through AI; partner to ensure scalable, compliant operationalization of new products, revenue models, and partnerships.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 183,600 - 237,600 annually

Key Requirements

•10 to 15+ years of experience, preferably including public accounting firm and publicly traded-company experience.
•Experience leading teams, preferably distributed and international, and building scalable, high-performing organizations.
•Strong operational accounting experience, including process improvements such as systems selection/implementation, and preferably experience with AI and NetSuite.
•Strong understanding of internal controls, SOX requirements, and US GAAP technical accounting fluency.
•Excellent written and verbal communication with strong cross-functional influencing skills.
