Job Summary

Design, engineer, and perform studies for protection systems on the bulk power system, covering substations, transmission lines, generators, renewables, industrial, and distribution assets. Work with the Electrical Studies, SCADA, and Protection (ESSP) team to develop protective relaying approaches, perform protection analyses (e.g., short circuit, coordination, arc flash), and lead client project efforts while mentoring junior engineers and supporting occasional onsite data collection.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, engineer, and study protection systems for equipment on the bulk power system.
•Develop and apply protective relaying philosophies, relay settings, and SCADA integration.
•Perform protection analyses including electrical model development, coordination, arc flash, and event analysis with NERC compliance.
•Lead client projects to meet scope, schedule, and budget while providing technical guidance and mentoring junior engineers.
•Support occasional onsite site visits to collect data and discuss project specifics with clients at the appropriate technical level.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited).
•7+ years of relevant experience as an electrical engineer executing protective relaying deliverables for power generation, transmission, and distribution.
•Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one.
•Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
•Proven ability to uphold workplace safety and follow health, safety, and harassment policies.
