Key Responsibilities

  • •Define and deliver the long-term strategic vision for HVDC Operations, aligning capability, resources, and operational frameworks to future network requirements.
  • •Lead operational readiness and integration of Eastern Green Link 1, supporting planning for future HVDC developments including EGL4 and future Western Link projects.
  • •Provide executive leadership across a portfolio of HVDC converter stations, cable systems, and associated infrastructure, maintaining safety, reliability, and efficiency.
  • •Drive standards in operational excellence, asset management, physical security, and cyber resilience; hold accountability for portfolio availability, reliability, and performance.
  • •Lead financial and contractual governance across operational and maintenance programmes, and build and develop a high-performing specialist team.

Key Requirements

  • •A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline, with Chartered Engineer status desirable.
  • •Extensive experience managing and operating HVDC converter stations and associated transmission assets, with strong knowledge of HVDC systems, risks, and performance drivers.
  • •Demonstrable experience leading operational strategy, maintenance, performance, and asset management for complex converter station environments.
  • •Significant senior leadership experience in an operational, engineering, or asset-intensive environment.
  • •Experience leading organisational growth and transformation, and developing multidisciplinary teams with a strong safety and performance culture.
