Lead the design and build of the data platform that powers AI enablement at Symetra. You’ll architect data pipelines, choose storage solutions (OLTP, object storage, Snowflake), mentor engineers, and ensure seamless data integration across structured and unstructured sources for AI products.

Key Responsibilities

•Design and build the data platform and pipelines that feed our AI products.
•Determine how to store and serve the data our AI applications need, using an OLTP database, object storage, or our Snowflake data warehouse.
•Solve data integration problems across our many structured and unstructured sources.
•Partner with the software engineers building our AI products so the data platform fits what they need.
•Mentor other engineers and act as the technical lead for the data platform.

Key Requirements

•8+ years as a data/analytics engineer who has designed and built data platforms
•Strong data engineering with SQL and Python: pipelines, data modeling, and integrating structured and unstructured data
•Experience evaluating, choosing, and standing up data infrastructure
•Advanced problem-solving and communication; ability to collaborate with engineers and business stakeholders
•Familiarity with AI coding agents and knowing when to use them in day-to-day work
