Job Summary

Seeking a skilled Survey Crew Chief to lead field surveying operations in Columbia, SC. You will manage instrument maintenance, perform property and topographic surveys, and supervise a one-to-two person crew while ensuring QA/QC and safety. You’ll read plans and notes, use GPS/GNSS and laser scanning, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with clients on private, government, and commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities

•Operate and maintain survey instruments including Total Station, level, and GPS, and supervise a one to two-person field crew.
•Perform property surveys, topographic surveys, construction stakeout for private, government and commercial clients.
•Read and interpret survey notes, sketches, maps, deeds, as-builts, construction plans and drawings and records; use GPS/GNSS and laser scanning for field procedures.
•Take survey field notes, sketches and written records daily; participate in project meetings and ensure data QA/QC to meet project requirements.
•Mentor and train junior crew members, prepare timesheets, and uphold safety procedures while maintaining equipment and field vehicles

Travel: High travel

Salary: USD 23 - 30 hourly

Key Requirements

•High School Diploma or equivalent with 4 years of land surveying experience or equivalent
•2 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief
•Valid US Driver’s License and must pass AECOM Motor Vehicle Records Review
