•Design or modify basic mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, and drawings/specifications under direct supervision.
•Coordinate procurement and assembly of mechanical components/equipment for design projects; identify sources of critical parts/subsystems to resolve basic technical issues.
•Perform and document engineering test reports; generate alpha/gamma documentation for product releases.
•Perform engineering analysis and troubleshoot a variety of mechanical problems of general difficulty under direct supervision.
•Apply engineering processes to resolve mechanical problems and help design/develop custom mechanical tooling/fixturing and processes across the product life cycle as needed.

Key Requirements

•Must be pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related major from an accredited university and available to start Summer 2026.
•Demonstrated experience in collaborative environments, including understanding team dynamics (e.g., academic projects or professional roles).
•Exposure to semiconductor equipment/subsystems or advanced technology platforms (e.g., vacuum systems, deposition/etch tools, metrology/inspection tools, optics/photonics assemblies, precision alignment, robotics/automation, thermal management).
•Demonstrated practical involvement in mechanical engineering project activities and problem-solving skills (through academic or professional work).
•Hands-on research/lab/internship/project experience with topics such as precision mechanical design, vacuum-compatible hardware, thermal control, structural analysis, fixture/tooling design, motion control, or semiconductor process equipment integration/testing.
