Provide strategic and practical employment law guidance to HR professionals and business executives. Advise on California and other states’ employment issues, including accommodations/leave, misconduct, performance management, policy development, reductions in force, and wage-and-hour matters. Lead internal investigations, represent the company in mediations, arbitrations, and litigation, draft legal documents, monitor legislative developments, and deliver employment law training within a hybrid work schedule.

Key Responsibilities

•Advise HR professionals and business executives on employment law matters, including accommodations and leave requests, misconduct and performance management, policy development, reductions in force, and wage-and-hour issues.
•Oversee and conduct internal investigations, ensuring concerns are addressed promptly and appropriately.
•Represent the company in mediations, arbitrations, and litigation for employment claims, coordinating with other in-house counsel and outside counsel as needed.
•Research and analyze complex legal issues and draft legal documents, including correspondence and positions/statements and settlement/separation agreements.
•Monitor federal, state, and local employment law developments and create/deliver employment law-related training programs.

Travel: Low travel

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 150,000 - 185,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school (or foreign equivalent).
•Member in good standing of the California state bar (or another state bar and qualified to register as California in-house counsel).
•4+ years of employment law experience with a nationally-recognized law firm and/or as in-house counsel.
•Ability to travel regionally and domestically on occasion.
•Excellent written and oral communication, strong legal research and writing, and the ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve legal issues quickly and practically.
