Job Summary

Support rail construction projects by assisting the project/client management team, reviewing shop drawings, and checking designs and construction drawings. Provide engineering support during construction, including technical guidance for staff, contractors, and vendors. Perform daily inspections to ensure contract compliance, prepare inspection reports, coordinate activities with other trades, monitor workforce performance, and complete punchlists. Nights/weekends with 12-hour shifts may be required, with 100% on-site work at the client office.

Key Responsibilities

•Assist the project manager/client management team as directed on rail projects.
•Review shop drawings and provide engineering support during construction, including checking designs and drawings.
•Conduct daily inspections to ensure contract compliance and prepare daily inspection reports.
•Coordinate construction site activities with other trades and the facility; monitor workforce and performance against the work plan.
•Complete punchlists and track completion; monitor subcontractor and supplier usage to ensure pre-approval before work starts.

Key Requirements

•3-5 years of experience in railroad construction.
•Knowledge of ballast, ties, rail structure, bridge and facility construction methods, materials, standards, and construction documents.
•Knowledge of typical structural steel repairs and experience reviewing shop drawings.
•Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
•Ability to pass safety training and work with applicable codes, standards, and safety/environment regulations.
