Job Summary

Lead development of additive manufacturing design methodologies and tools for aerospace/defense products. Drive topology optimization, DFAM projects, and integration of AM software toolchains. Manage multiple design initiatives within RTX’s AMPCC, provide training and knowledge transfer, and collaborate with government, industry, and RTX business units to advance additive manufacturing adoption.

Key Responsibilities

•Development, demonstration, and documentation of design methodologies and tools for additive manufacturing including conventional CAD and implicit modeling-based approaches
•Enhancement of design tools through the development of custom modules and scripts
•Topology Optimization for generation of geometries enabled by additive manufacturing across structural, thermal, or hydrodynamic domains
•Execution of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) projects to support business unit evaluation and adoption of additively manufactured components and systems
•Definition of AM software tools and methodologies for interconnection of individual tools into a unified toolchain

Salary: USD 107,500 - 204,500 annually

Key Requirements

•Typically requires a University Engineering Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
•Expert CAD user (Siemens NX preferred) for mechanical design and product engineering
•Advanced scripting experience with CAD tools, Matlab, Python, VBA, JavaScript or similar
•Experience with implicit modeling tools such as nTop including development of custom blocks
•Understanding of the AM process using laser powder bed fusion
•Experience with finite element analysis (e.g. Ansys, Abaqus, COMSOL)
