Job Summary

Help power the technical pipeline for animated feature and TV/VFX work by troubleshooting workflows, supporting artists and TDs, and developing or improving pipeline tools. Partner with the Technical Supervisor and Solutions Engineering to test and validate changes, resolve high-priority issues, and ensure processes run smoothly across front end, performance, and back end stages. Provide day-to-day technical guidance, mentor talent, and coordinate scheduling and planning with program managers.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide day-to-day technical oversight for pipeline troubleshooting, user support, direction, and tool development across front end, performance, and/or back end stages.
•Troubleshoot and optimize production workflows by using existing tools or developing new tooling solutions to address visual and technical problems.
•Safeguard artist productivity by testing and validating new tools and pipeline changes, tracking issues with Technical Supervisors and Solutions Engineering, and resolving high-priority blockers.
•Support bidding and scheduling by tracking development initiatives, monitoring estimates/scope/deadlines, and coordinating cross-departmental testing to move fixes through the pipeline quickly.
•Provide day-to-day technical guidance and mentorship to TDs, support onboarding, and communicate clearly with Program Managers on scheduling, status, requirements, and rollout plans.

Key Requirements

•5+ years of proven pipeline TD experience in animated features, animated TV series, and/or VFX feature films with demonstrated leadership in feature animation or VFX.
•Strong technical foundation with solid Python skills (plus PyQt or another GUI toolkit), familiarity with data flow/metadata/publishing, and ability to review code and troubleshoot issues; basic C++ and USD knowledge is a plus.
•Deep understanding of traditional production workflows, tools, and techniques, including experience troubleshooting relevant DCCs and production tracking software such as Flow Production Tracking (ShotGrid) or similar.
•Experience with modern software development and collaboration practices, including git/GitHub, code review, and Agile methodologies using Jira.
•Degree in Animation, Film, Computer Science, Design, Engineering, Math, or Physics, or equivalent professional experience in animation/VFX.
