Key Responsibilities

  • •Inspect shipments of scrap metal received via truck, rail car, or ship to ensure conformance to quality and quantity specifications and freedom from environmental hazards.
  • •Correctly identify and record inspection data such as weight, grade, content, and quantity of scrap metal.
  • •Notify operations and commercial supervisors of problems and assist in recommending remedial procedures to correct violations or issues.
  • •Direct the unloading of vehicles delivering scrap to ensure safe and orderly traffic flow within the facility and provide backup assistance throughout the yard as needed.
  • •Report equipment deficiencies or malfunctions requiring maintenance or repair, and support internal control responsibilities by communicating and complying with defined internal controls.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent experience in a similar role preferred.
  • •Adhere to Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental (H&S) standards.
  • •Ability to develop and maintain constructive, cooperative working relationships with customers and employees.
  • •Correctly identify and record inspection data such as weight, grade, content, and quantity of scrap metal.
  • •Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds consistently and perform frequent standing/walking on uneven ground.
