Job Summary

Build and maintain MongoDB’s self-service internal development platform that enables engineering teams to reliably deploy and operate production services. Partner with teams to understand infrastructure workflows, design platform services and tooling for reliability and usability, and drive automation and configuration management. Own significant parts of the platform, improve developer productivity, and operate production Kubernetes clusters with strong observability, SLI/SLOs, and CI/CD practices.

Key Responsibilities

•Collaborate with engineering teams to assess gaps in development workflows and define new infrastructure and platform requirements.
•Design self-service platform services and developer tooling focused on reliability and usability with appropriate abstraction from cloud infrastructure.
•Write and review automation, configuration management, and application code; author and review functional specifications and scoping documents.
•Own and operate major parts of the internal development platform used to run MongoDB.
•Work with a distributed team across time zones and support incidents and user requests as needed.

Key Requirements

•Built and operated large-scale distributed systems in cloud providers, with AWS strongly preferred.
•Strong backend programming background with fluency in Go strongly preferred (or deep experience in another compiled/strongly typed backend language).
•Experience designing and implementing medium-to-large software projects, including driving design reviews and mentoring less-senior engineers.
•Strong experience operating production Kubernetes clusters and defining/operating against SLI/SLOs for owned services.
•Strong observability and systems skills, including metrics/logs/traces with Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry, plus Linux and TCP/IP networking.
