Job Summary

Straighten asphalt joints and hand-work paving areas using a lute rake, while performing daily tool maintenance and ensuring tools are stored properly at the end of each shift. Support construction/paving crews on job sites with tasks like shoveling and raking, signaling equipment operators, distributing asphalt, cleaning tools, and helping with placement and dismantling of traffic control devices. Follow safety policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations and maintain regular attendance.

Key Responsibilities

•Use the lute rake to straighten asphalt joints and perform hand-working tasks in areas the paving machine cannot reach.
•Maintain daily tool maintenance and store all tools properly at the end of each shift.
•Assist construction/paving crews with shoveling and raking, and safely backing/dumping trucks into the paver.
•Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and materials handling.
•Distribute asphalt by raking, clean excess asphalt off tools and equipment, and support joint smoothing and traffic control setup/breakdown.

Key Requirements

•Follow the Foreman’s direction for daily tasks and expectations for each project or jobsite.
•Assist the construction/paving crew with duties such as shoveling and raking, safely backing/dumping trucks into the paver.
•High school diploma or GED is preferred, along with previous related construction field experience.
