Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide pension scheme trustees and sponsoring companies with credit and corporate finance advice on sponsor financial strength (the “covenant”).
  • •Analyze the impact of corporate activity (e.g., M&A, special dividends) and scheme-related activity (e.g., surplus release) on pension schemes and strategy.
  • •Produce high-quality written financial strength analysis reports and present findings to key stakeholders.
  • •Advise senior-level pension fund trustees and company executives (typically finance directors or CFOs) and collaborate with Aon team members.
  • •Support growth of the covenant practice through internal and external networking channels.

Key Requirements

  • •Consultancy experience and interest in a professional qualification pathway into the Pensions Covenant & Security Team.
  • •Experience in a financial advisory environment such as restructuring, corporate finance, or transaction services (or an advisory capacity to DB pension scheme trustees/sponsors).
  • •Understanding of both DB pension schemes and the financial strength of companies; willingness and ability to learn if experience is in one area only.
  • •Sound understanding of corporate financial statements, with a likely accountancy qualification pathway (e.g., ACA or ACCA) or CFA qualification.
  • •Strong interpersonal skills plus excellent report writing and presentation abilities, with strong organisation and communication.
