Job Summary

Develop and maintain the Linux kernel within Arista EOS, tracking upstream kernel changes and integrating new versions into mainline. Build kernel features and automated tests using C, C++, and Python, and work with the kernel community to contribute enhancements. Partner with hardware engineers and vendors to qualify CPU and NIC components, troubleshoot customer network issues, and provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers.

•Track upstream Linux kernel developments and identify relevant features for Arista products and internal development.
•Develop and maintain EOS kernel features and tests in C, C++, and Python, including automated test and test infrastructure.
•Contribute kernel features back to mainline via the upstream kernel community.
•Work with hardware engineers and vendors to qualify Kernel-dependent CPU and NIC components for integration into Arista products.
•Troubleshoot and mitigate customer network issues, analyze system test problems, and mentor new and junior engineers.

•Hands-on experience troubleshooting issues, fixing bugs, and developing features in the Linux kernel.
•Familiarity with Linux kernel architecture, design, and implementation.
•Familiarity with upstream Linux community patching processes and procedures.
