Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide technical assistance for planning, design, and construction support of utility transmission and distribution substations, including physical design and protection & control packages.
  • •Apply IEEE/NESC and client/utility requirements to support equipment selection and develop drawings and technical specifications.
  • •Review third-party substation deliverables (drawings, equipment lists, calculations) and support design reviews/QA/QC processes.
  • •Develop electrical calculations and documentation, including one-line/three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and station service/load calculations.
  • •Coordinate with civil/structural and other disciplines, support grounding grid and lightning protection design, and perform site walkdowns/field verification as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • •3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience supporting design of utility substation projects.
  • •Working knowledge of utility standards/specifications and applicable codes/standards for substation design (e.g., IEEE, NESC).
  • •Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements as applicable to project scope.
  • •Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software/tools, math principles, predictive models, and spreadsheets.
