Key Responsibilities

•Perform monitoring of personnel, work areas, and items leaving radiological areas to control internal and external exposure.
•Recommend personnel monitoring devices, protective equipment, and working time for operations and maintenance personnel working with radiation sources.
•Read, record, evaluate, and report data from radiation detective devices, air and bioassay sampling.
•Investigate cause and effect for results exceeding guides, standards, and limits.
•Calibrate instruments and operate automated low background counting equipment; process TLDs and perform lung counts.

Key Requirements

•Associates (or higher) in a technical field plus 10–15 years of related experience, or a high school diploma plus 20+ years of relevant experience.
•DOE RCT standardized CORE training certification, with ability to provide proof of certification.
•Current HAZWOPER 40-hour qualification, with ability to provide proof of certification.
•In-depth knowledge of principles, methods, and mechanics for monitoring and sampling radiological hazards, including understanding types of radiation.
•Ability to perform mathematical computations and conversions to express sampling and monitoring results in proper units and terms.
