Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform monitoring of personnel, work areas, and items leaving radiological areas to control internal and external exposure.
  • •Recommend personnel monitoring devices, protective equipment, and working time for operations and maintenance personnel working with radiation sources.
  • •Read, record, evaluate, and report data from radiation detective devices, air and bioassay sampling.
  • •Investigate cause and effect for results exceeding guides, standards, and limits.
  • •Calibrate instruments and operate automated low background counting equipment; process TLDs and perform lung counts.

Key Requirements

  • •Associates (or higher) in a technical field plus 10–15 years of related experience, or a high school diploma plus 20+ years of relevant experience.
  • •DOE RCT standardized CORE training certification, with ability to provide proof of certification.
  • •Current HAZWOPER 40-hour qualification, with ability to provide proof of certification.
  • •In-depth knowledge of principles, methods, and mechanics for monitoring and sampling radiological hazards, including understanding types of radiation.
  • •Ability to perform mathematical computations and conversions to express sampling and monitoring results in proper units and terms.
