Join the Studio team to help build Mapbox Studio, a flagship map design tool. You’ll lead fullstack contributions to a complex React/Redux application, make technical decisions that shape the long-term vision for maps, and build workflow tools that help designers create beautiful maps faster. You’ll tackle extensible architecture problems, improve performance, reduce technical debt, and ensure operational excellence through testing, monitoring, documentation, and on-call support.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead contributions to Mapbox Studio, shipping simple, approachable, performant, testable code in a React/Redux app.
•Make informed technical decisions that drive the long-term vision for maps at Mapbox.
•Build workflow tools that enable map designers to create beautiful maps faster and easier.
•Solve complex architecture problems in an extensible, maintainable way while bringing clarity to technical constraints.
•Maintain operational excellence through meticulous testing/monitoring, documentation, and on-call support for service health.

Key Requirements

•Proven frontend experience building client-side applications with React and TypeScript (ES6+), with strong knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3.
•3+ years building and maintaining scalable, high-volume, low-latency backend services and CI/CD pipelines.
•Experience integrating and shipping workflow tools and features across a fullstack product, including RESTful APIs and AWS infrastructure.
•Comfort with performance optimization for large-scale, data-intensive applications, including memory management and rendering efficiency.
•Experience using testing frameworks such as Playwright or Jest to ensure reliability and performance.
