Job Summary

Lead a player-coach team of applied and clinical researchers advancing clinical AI for radiology. Direct mentoring and research execution while setting technical direction across problem framing, experimental design, evaluation, and tradeoffs. Partner with radiologists, clinical experts, engineers, and product leaders to identify high-leverage research opportunities and translate NLP/reasoning work into deployable, production-scale systems with strong quality, reproducibility, and communication.

•Directly manage and mentor a small team of applied and clinical researchers, supporting growth in scope, judgment, execution, and communication.
•Drive research productivity by clarifying priorities, unblocking work, and creating a high-trust, high-accountability environment.
•Stay hands-on as a player-coach by guiding problem framing, experimental design, evaluation strategy, and tradeoff decisions across research efforts.
•Partner with radiologists, clinical experts, engineers, and product leaders to identify high-leverage research opportunities and translate them into production-scale systems.
•Raise research quality, reproducibility, and communication while staying current and integrating new methods when they improve outcomes.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 200,000 - 230,000 annually

Key Requirements

•MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computational Linguistics, Biomedical Informatics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
•6+ years of applied ML research experience, taking work from idea to production impact.
•Prior people management experience (or evidence of operating as a de facto team lead) with strong coaching and prioritization skills.
•Strong background in NLP and modern deep learning, especially transformer-based systems and large language models.
•Hands-on experience with modern ML tooling and workflows such as PyTorch, plus experience applying ML to real-world constraints.
