•Develop novel particle beam systems meeting technical requirements for semiconductor inspection and metrology.
•Define system requirements and specifications, and troubleshoot system problems.
•Plan and conduct prototype technology tests in the laboratory.
•Collect and analyze data, designing statistically valid experiments.
•Collaborate with a multidisciplinary international R&D team and guide less experienced physicists/scientists.

•Scientific and technical degree, preferably with a doctorate in physics or a comparable discipline (e.g., physical technology, optics).
•Practical experience designing, constructing, and operating particle beam systems.
•Knowledge of electron microscopy (SEM/TEM) and electron optics; (ultra) high vacuum and high voltage technology desirable.
•Systematic, analytical, and goal-oriented way of working.
•Flexibility and readiness for interdisciplinary work, with enjoyment of working in a high-performing team and close coordination with specialist departments.
