Key Responsibilities

  • •Assist with necropsies and process samples for diagnostic evaluation, including specimen handling and secure storage for disposition.
  • •Perform molecular testing and laboratory studies of fungal pathogens, including conventional PCR, real-time PCR, cloning, and DNA sequencing to identify strains and quantify pathogens.
  • •Create, edit, and follow SOPs; maintain a detailed laboratory notebook; document work and submit records in support of disease investigation.
  • •Use LIMS to enter data and track specimens from log-in through final disposition while adhering to chain of custody procedures.
  • •Provide technical support to pathologists and PIs in necropsy activities and support histology operations.

Key Requirements

  • •Must be a US Citizen able to pass a thorough background check including criminal and financial at both the state and federal level.
  • •Bachelor's degree in a science-related discipline and 1 year of field/work-related lab experience.
  • •Experience with PCR, real-time PCR, cloning, and DNA sequencing to identify fungal strains and detect and quantify pathogens.
  • •Experience assisting with necropsies.
  • •Strong attention to detail and ability to use computer software and databases to develop presentations and research reports.
