Key Responsibilities

  • •Oversee all county HR functions, ensuring compliance with HR requirements and applicable employment laws.
  • •Manage recruitment and hiring processes, including interviews, background checks, pre-employment drug testing, eligibility verifications, and new employee orientation coordination.
  • •Administer benefits and wage programs, maintain HRIS and personnel files, and prepare annual salary/benefit estimates for the Board of Commissioners.
  • •Lead employee relations and offboarding: advise employees on benefits and inquiries, oversee performance evaluations, investigate grievances, support disciplinary meetings and terminations, and manage retention programs.
  • •Develop and oversee safety/injury prevention and workers’ compensation compliance, review accident/hazard reports, and conduct labor negotiations; supervise an administrative assistant.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field plus at least 8 years of Human Resource Management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • •Strong knowledge of personnel management principles and practices, with ability to analyze and resolve HR issues.
  • •Experience managing recruitment and hiring, including background checks, pre-employment drug testing, and eligibility verifications.
  • •Ability to conduct employee relations work including performance evaluations, grievance investigations, and participation/advice in disciplinary meetings and terminations.
  • •Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and County HR software/HRIS systems; HRCI or SHRM certification desired.
