Key Responsibilities

  • •Establish visual design direction and define design elements that affect the guest experience, creating and researching sketches, illustrations, models, and composite imagery.
  • •Develop and document creative intent, coordinating technical execution for assigned project components.
  • •Collaborate with internal talent and external vendors, directing art-related vendors and any scenic scope requiring art direction.
  • •Maintain cohesive design as a design “vision-keeper” in collaboration with the Design Director across all phases of design and development.
  • •During construction, develop in-field solutions and follow-up documentation, ensuring completion of art, finishes, and material specifications.

Key Requirements

  • •12+ years of production design and field experience based on Universal Creative standards.
  • •Design experience based on entertainment for theme parks or related industries, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • •Ability to communicate complex artistic ideas using written and visual materials, with in-depth knowledge of color theory and art history.
  • •Knowledge of scenic painting techniques, sculpture, architecture, perspective, and some fabrication and technical skills.
  • •Associate’s degree (AA) in Theater, Art, Film, or Architecture is required, and a Bachelor’s degree in Theater, Art, Film, or Architecture is required (Master’s preferred).
