Key Responsibilities

  • •Assist intermediate and senior engineers with assessment, design, implementation, and documentation of repairs and redesigns to ship structure and marine outfitting.
  • •Support engineering work for weight management, stability, deck equipment and outfitting, lifting appliances, and ship structure.
  • •Develop and review technical documentation including equipment specifications, installation and maintenance work instructions, and test and trial procedures.
  • •Conduct technical investigations into marine equipment/structure defects, including failure and root cause analysis, risk assessments, and solution development.
  • •Support onboard surveys, testing, trials, and verification to confirm engineering solutions meet operational and technical requirements.

Key Requirements

  • •Engineering degree in Naval Architecture (or equivalent related education with relevant experience).
  • •Exposure to naval/marine engineering systems and standards such as IMO, SOLAS, Class Society Rules, IEC, and Transport Canada regulations.
  • •Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
  • •High level oral and written communication skills for report writing and design justification documentation.
  • •Eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Secret security clearance.
