Job Summary

Maintain and support Lumen’s network and critical infrastructure in Springfield, including asset management, deliveries/replenishment, and troubleshooting/remediating network equipment. Assist with installation, change, decommissioning, and testing of DS0 through OC192 services and next-generation technologies (edge compute, wavelength, fiber transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP). Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and high-voltage/DC power systems while updating records and trouble tickets.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform troubleshooting of network equipment, remove/replace defective components, and support restoration efforts to maintain network integrity.
•Assist with installation, change, decommissioning, and testing of transport/network layers (including next-generation technologies) and provision/end-user services, as needed.
•Use industry tools to locate, mark, and protect underground outside-plant facilities; coordinate restoration during service interruptions.
•Manage asset workflows including deliveries/replenishment of consumables, shipping/receiving coordination, maintaining tools/test sets/network equipment, and updating installation records and trouble tickets.
•Carry out preventive/scheduled maintenance and inspections (including HVAC, high-voltage electrical systems, and DC power plants) and complete system time/inventory updates while providing status reports.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED, or up to 2 years of relevant experience including 1+ years of network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair.
•Entry-level technician experience/knowledge in at least one discipline: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols), or Outside Plant (fiber locating, OTDR, Mass Fusion Splicing).
•Knowledge of locating fiber optic cable, right-of-way, and As-Builts.
•PC skills including Microsoft Windows and Office applications, plus the ability to quickly learn corporate databases.
•Valid driver’s license and ability to work in all weather conditions while performing physical tasks (e.g., lifting up to 50 lbs.).
