Job Summary

Serve as a Construction Inspector on road and bridge projects for the State Highway Administration, supporting Construction Management and Inspection (CMI) services. Perform daily site inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications, conduct routine construction material tests, measure and record work quantities for payment, and prepare detailed daily inspection reports. Coordinate with contractors and agency personnel and maintain accurate project records in varying field conditions.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide daily site inspections of contractors’ work on highway, bridge, and related complex construction projects to ensure compliance and maintain up-to-date project records.
•Conduct routine field tests on construction materials (slump test, air content test, compaction tests).
•Measure and record material placed and pay items for periodic contractor payments.
•Prepare daily inspection reports/logs covering work performed, materials used, weather conditions, accidents, and equipment use.
•Communicate conditions and field conflicts/changes to the Owner and coordinate with utilities, state/local/federal agency personnel as needed.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma.
•5 years of experience in Roadway and Bridge construction.
•Experience in field inspection, or construction supervision of civil works projects (earthwork, roads, utilities, infrastructure, bridges, paving, drainage).
•Knowledge of ASTM and ACI, construction testing requirements, and construction inspection procedures (including nuclear gauges and concrete sampling).
•Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check; fluent in written and spoken English.
