Job Summary

Lead technical delivery of highways, bridges, and infrastructure projects in Gloucester, working closely with the Principal Highways Engineer and a multi-disciplinary team. Develop and review highway designs through the full project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with programme, budget, standards, and legal requirements. Support project planning and cost estimation, prepare technical submissions and documentation, and guide junior engineers while collaborating with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop highway designs on multi-disciplinary projects across the project lifecycle.
•Ensure delivery to programme, budget, technical standards, and legal requirements.
•Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians to support their professional development.
•Assist Project Managers with planning, programming, technical input, pricing of briefs and proposals, and cost estimation.
•Prepare and review design documentation, drawings, reports, and technical submissions, coordinating resources to deliver work packages effectively.

Key Requirements

•A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience within a highway design environment.
•Chartered Engineer preferred, or working towards IEng or CEng status with a relevant professional institution.
•Experience in multidisciplinary highway design across different project stages.
•Technical knowledge of road geometry, junction design, active travel schemes, drainage systems, road restraint systems, and traffic signs/road markings.
•Familiarity with design standards including DMRB, Manual for Streets, TSRGD, and Local Authority guidance, including Technical Approvals and Departures from Standards.
