Job Summary

Provide and coordinate maternity patient care, including assessing needs, collecting clinical data, and monitoring the mother and baby throughout antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and newborn periods. Develop and evaluate nursing care plans with an interprofessional team, record and escalate abnormalities, and administer medications and treatments as prescribed. Perform CTG monitoring, provide newborn care (including screening and phototherapy where ordered), and deliver patient education, emotional support, and end-of-life bereavement support.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide and coordinate patient care, educating patients and the public, and offering advice and emotional support to patients and their families.
•Assess and identify patient needs, implement and monitor the medical plan and treatment, and perform systematic assessment and re-assessment.
•Create and evaluate nursing care plans with the interprofessional team, in collaboration with patients and their bystanders.
•Record vital signs, recognize and escalate abnormalities; administer medications and treatments while monitoring for side effects and reactions.
•Monitor mother and baby health including fetal heart rate and contractions, perform CTG monitoring, support newborn care (e.g., screening, bath as required), and respond to emergencies with appropriate life-saving measures.

Key Requirements

•Have an appropriate license to work as a registered nurse with the relevant regulatory health authority requirements.
•Manage their own professional re-licensure.
•Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider card.
•Be willing to work across departments when necessary.
•Communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written).
