Job Summary

Work on next-generation low-power sensing for AR/VR camera systems and AI Agents, co-designing hardware and algorithms from the sensor to downstream perception. You’ll design and prototype novel sensor/imaging architectures, build end-to-end imaging pipelines through ISP to perception models, and use VLM/LLM and world-model requirements to decide what information to preserve or discard. Location: San Jose
Workplace: Onsite
Employment Type: Internship
Job Function: Energy & Utilities Operations
Seniority: Intern level

Key Responsibilities

  • •Design and prototype novel sensor or imaging architectures that move computation closer to the sensing front-end (e.g., near-sensor processing, event-driven capture, learned pixel-level compression).
  • •Build and characterize end-to-end imaging pipelines from optical/sensor physics through ISP to downstream perception models to identify where bits are wasted.
  • •Use knowledge of VLM/LLM and world models to determine what sensing-front-end information must be preserved, discarded, or transformed.
  • •Develop or adapt machine vision models co-optimized with hardware constraints such as power, bandwidth, and latency.

Key Requirements

  • •PhD candidate in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, AI, or a related discipline.
  • •Strong foundation in imaging systems, sensor technology, or machine learning/computer vision.
  • •Hands-on experience with VLM/LLM, world models, or large-scale vision foundation models, including data and architecture requirements.
  • •Track record of high-impact publication (e.g., Nature, Science, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, SIGGRAPH) or equivalent.
  • •Ability to bridge hardware and algorithm thinking and communicate effectively in teams.
