Job Summary

Own Stepful’s data function—data infrastructure, analytics, and insights that drive decisions across the student lifecycle and business performance. Lead and mentor a team of three data analysts and engineers while staying hands-on with production SQL and Python. Build and scale the end-to-end data platform (pipelines, warehouse, transformation layer, BI tooling), define core metrics, and partner on experimentation and strategic deep-dive analyses.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead, mentor, and grow a team of three data analysts and engineers.
•Own Stepful’s data platform end to end, including pipelines, warehouse, transformation layer, and BI tooling, ensuring reliability and scalability.
•Define and maintain core metrics across the student journey and business performance (CAC, LTV, retention).
•Build dashboards and self-serve analytics for trustworthy data across teams.
•Partner on experimentation and deliver deep-dive analyses shaping strategic decisions, while writing production SQL and Python and establishing data governance and quality practices.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 180,000 - 210,000 annually

Key Requirements

•7+ years of data experience across analytics and data engineering, with at least 2+ years managing a team.
•Proven success as a player-coach who can set direction, manage people, and still ship their own work.
•Expert-level SQL and strong Python with hands-on experience across the modern data stack (dbt, Snowflake/BigQuery, Airflow, Looker/Metabase).
•Strong product and business sense connecting data work to outcomes.
•Experience designing and analyzing experiments (A/B tests) in a high-growth environment.
