Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide manual machinist support of power generation equipment in the Central Repair Shop.
  • •Perform mechanical maintenance by installing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining generating station equipment (including boilers, turbines, pumps, condensers, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels).
  • •Replace bearings, packing, shaft seals, sleeves, seats, and other parts; perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • •Diagnose and correct mechanical equipment troubles and recommend major repairs as needed.
  • •Follow safety and environmental requirements, teach apprentices proper and safe tool use and maintenance procedures, and respond to emergency callouts as required.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or GED, with equivalent knowledge of English, mathematics, and grammar.
  • •5 years of machinist experience required.
  • •Journey level mechanical aptitude plus at least 3 years’ apprentice program or other training in repair, inspection, and/or maintenance of power plant or machine shop equipment.
  • •Ability to operate large manual lathes, manual boring mills, and large manual horizontal boring machines.
  • •Strong math skills and ability to use measuring devices such as micrometers.
