Job Summary

Oversee construction structural supervision on the Khoemacau Expansion, ensuring HSE compliance, quality control, and execution of earthworks and civil structures in a multi-disciplinary mining project in Botswana. Lead coordination between construction team, site engineering, and contractors, with emphasis on safety, schedules, and design input within EPCM framework.

Key Responsibilities

•Have prime responsibility for the implementation and enforcement of the project Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policy, procedures and plans in close cooperation with the HSE Advisors on the project.
•Identify potential HSE hazards in your area together with contractors and ensure implementation of risk treatment plans by the contractors in consultation with the assigned HSE Advisor.
•Liaise with the Site Quality Coordinator and Site Engineering for quality of work in your area, including planning construction methods and coordinating engineering/construction problems with the Construction Manager.
•Interpret engineering drawings and prepare field sketches of revisions and additions; review design drawings and vendor instructions.
•Inspect the contractor’s works to ensure acceptable work standards; monitor installation of materials and equipment for conformance with drawings and specifications.

Key Requirements

•S3 or S4 with at least 5 years’ experience on multi-disciplinary projects
•Junior B Eng or B Tech requiring practical experience prior to registration as Pr Eng/Pr Tech
•At least 10 years’ experience in the construction industry on multi-disciplinary projects within the mining/minerals processing environment
•Thorough understanding of the OHS Act, Mines Health and Safety Act and SANS 10142
•Experience with road building, earthworks and civil structures
