Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform new vehicle inspections for minor/major impact damages, vandalism, factory defects, restraint failure damages, accidents, weather-related damages, and transportation-related damage.
  • •Document and code damages using handheld tools and digital camera, and provide damage verification codes to trucking companies before delivery.
  • •Complete inspections in demanding outdoor environments and fast-paced, multi-organization facilities, including grounds and on-board rail cars.
  • •Ensure quality, consistency of inspection standards, accurate damage verification, and timely daily transmission of inspection results.
  • •Create and transmit routine oral and written reports of inspection outcomes, and assist with locating vehicles and boarding rail cars/ships as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •High School Diploma/GED plus 5 years’ experience in a related field, or 3 years with a degree/certification beyond HS/GED, or 7 years’ experience in related work.
  • •Previous vehicle inspection experience and automotive/body/mechanical knowledge.
  • •Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • •Good communication and interpersonal skills; strong technical aptitude and detail orientation.
  • •Ability to lift and hold at least 30 lbs. and perform physical inspections (stand/walk/talk/hear; crouch/bend/kneel; reach inside/underneath vehicles).
