Key Responsibilities

  • •Contribute to investigations, feasibility studies, flood and erosion assessments and hydraulic modelling.
  • •Support river management planning and produce technical reporting to improve community safety and environmental outcomes.
  • •As experience grows, lead project planning and provide technical review for models, plans, calculations and reports.
  • •Work with clients and multidisciplinary teams to build trusted relationships and support successful project delivery.
  • •Support proposals, develop professional network, and contribute to team and cross-office collaboration within the national Water team.

Key Requirements

  • •A BE, BSc or equivalent qualification in Physical Geography, Geology (with a geomorphology focus), Natural Resources Engineering or a related discipline.
  • •At least five years of professional experience in river engineering, river science, hydraulic modelling, flood risk management or a related field.
  • •Experience interpreting river processes and applying knowledge to investigations, assessments and design projects.
  • •Obtained or working towards Chartered membership of CPEng, CIWEM or a similar approved professional body.
  • •Confidence producing and reviewing models, plans, calculations, reports and other technical documents, supported by sound judgement and knowledge of relevant standards, legislation and New Zealand standards.
