Job Summary

Build and operate enterprise platform capabilities that help developers and organizations adopt the OpenAI API securely and confidently. Own backend services end to end across authentication and identity, service accounts and key controls, secure networking, compliance, observability, and operational workflows. Design developer-facing APIs and reliability-focused behaviors, partner across Product and security to shape roadmaps, and lead cross-functional initiatives from discovery through launch and iteration.

Key Responsibilities

•Own backend product capabilities end to end across authentication and identity, service accounts and key controls, secure networking, compliance, observability, and operational workflows.
•Partner with Product, go-to-market, security, infrastructure teams, and sophisticated customers to identify needs, shape the roadmap, and lead cross-functional projects from design through launch.
•Design developer-facing APIs and system behaviors including configuration, error handling, safe defaults, auditing, and notifications.
•Build, operate, and debug reliable backend systems spanning databases, streaming infrastructure, request routing, and distributed services with strong operational ownership.
•Lead ambiguous needs from discovery through design, launch, and iteration in collaboration with cross-functional partners.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 293,000 - 385,000 annually

Key Requirements

•9+ years of professional engineering experience (excluding internships) in relevant backend, platform, or product-driven roles.
•Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Python, Go, Rust, or TypeScript.
•Experience building and shipping API or platform capabilities users depend on.
•Experience with distributed systems, databases, streaming systems, request routing, authentication/identity, networking, or enterprise platform controls.
•Experience leading large cross-functional initiatives and aligning with Product and go-to-market, security, and infrastructure partners.
