Key Responsibilities

•Investigate robot foundation models to study scaling and generalization properties and contribute to developing broadly competent robots for real-world use.
•Develop agents that manipulate objects, follow instructions, and acquire new skills across diverse tasks in simulation and on real hardware.
•Build and leverage scalable, GPU-accelerated simulation environments for large-scale training and develop pipelines to transfer learned policies to real robots.
•Make substantial contributions to fully open methods, datasets, benchmarks, and tools to enable rigorous, reproducible, distributed experimentation.
•Collaborate with Ai2 researchers and partner with UW and other teams; publish co-authored papers at top venues.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field and preparing to enter a PhD program within the next 1-3 years (or already enrolled in a related PhD program).
•Strong interest in language-model based artificial intelligence and natural language processing.
•Willingness to align work with Ai2’s endeavors and collaborate with researchers across teams.
•Ability to conduct research across robot manipulation, large-scale training in simulated environments, sim-to-real transfer, and open-source research.
•Ability to publish and co-author papers at top venues and work in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
