Key Responsibilities

  • •Apply Safety, Health, and Environment principles in all work to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
  • •Design and approve drill patterns/blast block designs and ensure drilling, charging, and traffic management practices align with specifications.
  • •Validate seismograph and timing design data for optimal recording and support fault-finding during timing and firing.
  • •Train individuals for blasting certification and develop action plans to meet certification requirements.
  • •Execute blasting design and manage data accuracy using BlastMaster, BlastLogik, and HP GPS systems; handle misfires and support documentation and weekly reconciliation.

Key Requirements

  • •Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • •Higher National Certificate on NQF5 (NATED N4/N6); Mining Diploma (NQF6) Explosives Management preferred.
  • •Opencast Blasting Ticket; Hard Rock Mining Certificate preferred.
  • •3–5 years of experience in blasting and drilling operations, preferably surface/open-pit mining, plus operational experience as a supervisor or Mine Overseer in blasting/drilling logistics.
  • •Explosives engineering/handling and autonomous drilling experience using HP GPS drilling systems; SA Drivers Licence Code B.
