Job Summary

Lead architecture and delivery of autonomous behaviors for Shield AI’s mission autonomy software stack. As a Staff Software Engineer on the Autonomy Behaviors team, you will design and implement scalable behavior subsystems across air, land, sea, and space platforms, mentor senior engineers, and collaborate with hardware, sensor, and flight teams to enable safe, mission-critical performance, driving requirements, verification, and reuse across products.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the design, implementation, verification, and evolution of autonomous behaviors as scalable software subsystems interfacing with sensor processing, state estimation, communications, and actuation
•Champion end-to-end ownership of software development lifecycle from requirements capture to deployment
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams including vehicle integration, pilots/operators, and software/hardware engineers to ensure system-wide integration and usability
•Drive technology road-mapping and promote reuse of behaviors across multiple projects and portfolios
•Travel up to 20% to co-locate with end-users and other teams

Salary: USD 281,297 annually

Key Requirements

•BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
•Proficient in production-level C++ software development
•7+ years' experience in software sub-system scheduling and integration, behavior planning, task and resource allocation, motion planning, optimization, or flight controls
•Experience with collaborative software development tools for version control, issue tracking, code reviews, and release management
•Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams, set technical direction, and manage full project lifecycles from concept to deployment
•Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
