Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead the design, delivery, and ongoing operation of high-impact AI/ML and data products that support Qantas’ AI ambitions.
  • •Shape early data transformation by identifying business needs and defining/building data products for scalable AI at the enterprise level.
  • •Deliver end-to-end AI/ML solutions, including productionisation, automation, and implementation of models for business domains.
  • •Improve ML Ops practices and standards, and champion AI solutions while contributing to the Data Science community.
  • •Scope and deliver analytics projects, uncover insights from diverse data sources, and provide stakeholder-friendly recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

Key Requirements

  • •Tertiary qualifications in applied statistics, mathematics, computer science, data science, econometrics, engineering, or a related quantitative field; post-graduate qualifications advantageous.
  • •5+ years’ experience in data science, analytics, AI, developer, or similar roles, ideally within aviation, retail, telco, finance, or commercial analytics.
  • •Hands-on ML/AI experience is essential.
  • •Practical experience with modern data science tooling such as Python, Docker, SQL, Git, and CI/CD systems, plus dbt and Airflow.
  • •Experience building data models on a modern cloud data platform, including data cataloguing, lineage, and metadata management tooling.
