Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide technical support to the Ministry of Health to review, develop, and implement tobacco control policies, strategies, and regulations aligned with WHO FCTC provisions.
  • •Support multi-sector national coordination and engagement with government ministries, civil society, academia, and development partners to strengthen tobacco control implementation.
  • •Strengthen tobacco surveillance systems through population-based surveys, monitoring tobacco use trends, analysis of data, and support for WHO FCTC reporting obligations.
  • •Provide technical assistance to operationalize the Kenya reference laboratory for testing tobacco products and support establishment of quality and integrated tobacco cessation services.
  • •Build national and county capacity via training materials, workshops, and technical guidance; prepare technical briefs, policy notes, donor reports, and strategic documents.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Medicine, Epidemiology, Health Policy, Health Promotion, Global Health, Health Economics, or a related field.
  • •Minimum five years of progressively responsible professional experience in public health, including at least three years in tobacco control, NCD prevention, health policy, or public health programme management.
  • •Demonstrated experience in policy analysis, programme planning and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and coordination of public health interventions.
  • •Demonstrated experience working with government institutions and stakeholders (national and county) to implement public health programmes.
  • •Expert knowledge of English; working knowledge of Kiswahili is desirable.
