Job Summary

Legal role focusing on privacy for Clay’s product features, partnering with product, engineering, sales, and compliance to ensure compliant data practices while enabling innovation. You will lead privacy assessments, advise on data processing bases and cross-border transfers, manage vendor relationships, and drive policy development and training across the org.

Job Function: Legal, Risk & Compliance

Key Responsibilities

•Privacy risk assessments in product features, including PIAs and DPIAs, to ensure compliance with global privacy laws.
•Cross-functional collaboration to translate legal requirements into actionable product specifications and provide real-time advice on data processing decisions.
•Regulatory compliance reviews of product roadmaps and features, advising on lawful bases, cross-border transfers, and data subject rights; embed privacy-by-design principles.
•Vendor and partner management, due diligence on data sharing, and negotiating data protection clauses with third-party providers.
•Incident response support and training development; policy development and advocacy to update internal privacy policies and data processing agreements.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 200,000 - 300,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
•Minimum of 5–7 years of privacy law experience, preferably in a tech or SaaS environment; experience with outbound marketing or data-driven products is highly desirable.
•Deep understanding of privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA if applicable) and emerging laws; CIPP certification is strongly preferred; familiarity with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 is a plus.
•Strong analytical and strategic/operational balance, with the ability to guide complex projects and provide cross-team collaboration.
•Excellent negotiation and communication skills for handling vendor relationships and internal stakeholders.
