Job Summary

Lead novel process and product research initiatives, from laboratory-scale experiments to pilot and manufacturing-scale scale-up. Use biochemical engineering expertise, Design of Experiments (DOE), and advanced data analytics to optimize yield, efficiency, and new technology exploration. Manage project lifecycles end-to-end, troubleshoot technical challenges, collaborate with production/analytical teams and external partners, and ensure strict lab safety and EHS compliance.

Key Responsibilities

•Initiate and lead novel research projects, including process optimization, development of new process technologies, and investigation of alternative feedstocks/substrates.
•Design and run laboratory-scale experiments; analyze data, draw conclusions, and develop/document experimental procedures and protocols.
•Drive process scale-up by translating benchtop successes to pilot/manufacturing operations, troubleshooting technical challenges, and supporting technology transfer.
•Collaborate with academic and industry partners and stay current on fermentation and distilling technology advancements.
•Plan and execute projects within budget/timelines, communicate results to stakeholders, and ensure lab safety and EHS compliance.

Key Requirements

•Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering, Food Technology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
•0-2 years of relevant post-PhD research experience in food processing or distillation, with multiple peer-reviewed publications in SCI journals.
•Hands-on laboratory experience and analytical equipment experience (GCMS, HPLC, spectroscopy, and analytical methods).
•Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and scientific software to interpret complex datasets.
•Experience with statistical design of experiments (DOE) and familiarity with process simulation and high-throughput screening methods (preferred).
